The Friday Rant

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Friday Rant, the one you’ve been waiting for.  It was hard for me to pick just what to rant about first since the subjects I have in mind are easy to rant about.  But after thinking about it I’ve decided to go with the subject of “automated” and “autopilot” income.  So here’s my rant on the subject.

Be honest with yourself: How many products have you seen that promised you autopilot/automated income if you set some income stream up in an hour or two then have it make you money for years to come without lifting a finger?  Now be honest again: How many of these have you actually bought?  If the answer to both of these is “a lot” or “many” or any synonym of those, then of course you need to come to a realization right now: There is NO SUCH THING as “automated” or “autopilot” income.  People sell the fact that you can have your “personal ATM machine” or “have money coming in while you sleep/play/have sex/whatever”.  Even if it did take you a few months to actually get some money coming in while you were working, it would stop coming in as soon as you stop working.  Okay, maybe you’ll get some cash rolling in a few days or a week after you stop, but after that it will shut off quickly.  That is passive income, which there IS a such thing as.  Passive income is income that comes in whether you work or not, but it isn’t income that continues to work for you around the clock, as these “automated” or “autopilot” income products sell to you.

Let’s be real: You have to WORK to acquire money.  If you set up a PPC campaign that you had a great feeling would succeed, do you think that as soon as you set it up, you can rely on it to bring home the bacon for years?  NO.  You would have to constantly go in and tweak, track, test, and analyze it, which is more work.  If you set up an article marketing campaign that of course you know will succeed, will it generate thousands of dollars a month without you doing a thing to it?  NOT A CHANCE.  You would have to write MORE articles and of course tweak, track, test, and analyze your landing/squeeze pages.  More work.  On top of all of that, your competition could beat you out, so you will have to one up them by increasing your bids on your PPC campaigns or do numerous things to your article marketing campaigns.

So in conclusion, whenever you see these products that promise you “make thousands of dollars a month on autopilot” or “get on the road to automated income” or whatever, stay far, FAR away.  It will most likely be rehashed crap that you’ve heard of before (rehashed crap is in a future Friday rant).

I thought about making a challenge to those people who claim they make “automated” or “autopilot” income to prove me wrong on this subject, but since screenshots and videos can easily be faked and they probably feel that I’m not worth their time, I decided against it.  But of course they COULDN’T prove me wrong anyway because they don’t make “automated” or “autopilot” income (because there is no such thing), so I’d win that challenge easily.

Drill this in your head before you go: If it doesn’t work for me, it won’t work for you.  Chase the pipe dream.  Live the pipe nightmare.
